This article details how to create and manage hotpoint links in DocuStudio.

Overview
Hotpoint links allow publishers to link hotpoints, or callouts, to other content, chapters or pages.
NOTE: Hotpoint links targeted to chapters can only be created
in DocuStudio, through XML or web services.
There are three methods for creating hotpoint links:
- In Docustudio, when creating and/or editing a page
- For more information on this process, refer to: How to Create and Manage Hotpoint Links in Documoto.
- In Documoto > Publisher, after a page has already been published, using the Illustration editor
- In Documoto > Publisher, leverage the Build Hotpoint Links feature
How to Create Hotpoint Links in Docustudio
- Login to Docustudio
- Open the page (.plz) you wish to add hotpoint link(s) to
- Identify the item number in BOM that you will be adding a hotpoint link to
- On the Page tab, click on the 'Hotpoint Links' button
- The 'Hotpoint Links' modal will pop-up
- Click Add
- In the 'Item' field, input the BOM item number you identified in step #3
- In the ‘Type’ drop-down, select:
- Media: requires a media identifier to create the hotpoint link
- Chapter: requires a media identifier and a chapter name to create the hotpoint link
- Page: requires a page filename and page name to create the hotpoint link; alternatively you can click Browse Server to search for an existing page in your Documoto tenant or click Browse Computer to search your local computer for a .plz file
- Click Save
- The 'Hotpoint Links' modal will now contain a list of all hotpoint link(s) for the page
- Click the [X] icon to exit
- Note: hotpoints with links will change from a circle
to square
How to Remove Hotpoint Links in Docustudio
- Login to Docustudio.
- Open the page (.plz) you wish to add hotpoint link(s) to
- In the bill of materials, identify the item number that should be converted back to a standard hotpoint.
- On the 'Page' tab, click on the 'Hotpoint Links' button
- The ‘Hotpoint Links’ modal will pop-up
- Select the link you wish to delete by clicking on it.
- Click Remove

- Click the [X] icon to exit the Hotpoint Links window.
