Media categories, formerly referred to as media shelves, can be accessed through the Documoto library by any users who have the privilege to view the category, based on the user group(s) they are assigned to.

How to Create a New Media Category
- Login to Documoto.
- From the Admin drop-down, select Tenant Admin
- From the left navigation pane, select Media Categories under the ‘Profile’ section.
- Click the New button.
- In the ‘Translations’ grid, add a media category name by clicking the Add button and entering the media category name
- Determine the display order that you want the media category to appear in the library. Add the display order by typing the number into the ‘Display Order’ text field, or using the arrows to set the order.
- Note: the display order is supported in Documoto Classic, only. In Documoto Rocket, media categories appear in order of relevance, with the most populated categories listed first.
- Add a media owner in the ‘Email’ field.
- Note: in Documoto Classic, a media owner is the person who is responsible for all of the media items within that media shelf. Their email will automatically populate in any of the forms generated when an end-user attempts to ‘Contact a Media Owner’ from the Documoto user-interface.
- Note: in Documoto Rocket, the content owner is not associated to media categories. Instead, a Documoto system administrator can define content owner(s) for all content within a tenant. To define a content owner, please contact your Customer Success Manger or support@documoto.com. For more information on the Report an Issue feature, please click here.
- Click Save to create the media category
- The new media category will now appear in the ‘Media Categories’ grid.
How to Assign User Groups Access to Media Categories
- While in the Tenant Admin module, select User Groups from the ‘Profile’ section.
- Select the user group you want to grant access to the media category by clicking it in the ‘User Groups’ grid.
- Click the Edit button.
- Under the Media Categories section, enable the relevant media category(s)
- Click the Save button.

How to Edit and Delete a Media Category
- Login to Documoto.
- From the Admin drop-down, select Tenant Admin
- Open Media Categories under the ‘Profile’ section.
- Highlight the media category you wish to modify, or remove, by clicking on it in the ‘Media Shelves’ grid.
- Depending on your desired action, select the Edit or Delete button.
- If you are editing the media category, ensure that you click Save after the changes have been made.
- If you are deleting the media category, select ‘Yes’ in the ‘Confirm Removal’ pop-up modal.
