Media Categories are a component of Access Controls. Content assigned to specific categories can be accessed through the Documoto library by any users who have the privilege to view the category, based on the User Group(s) they are assigned to.
This article contains instructions for creating, editing, and deleting Media Categories in Documoto, as well as how to give access to a new Media Category to your User Groups.

How to Create a New Media Category
- Within Admin Center, go to Content > Media Categories.
- Click the +Add button.
- Add a number to the Display Order field, if you would like to control the order of appearance in the Categories filter in the Library.
- Add a media category name in the Name field under Translations.
- Click Save.
- The new media category will now appear in the Media Categories grid.
How to Assign User Groups Access to a Media Category
After you have created a new media category, you should assign access to that category to all appropriate User Groups.
- Within Admin Center, go to Users > User Groups.
- Select the user group you want to grant access to the media category by clicking on it in the User Groups grid.
- Select Media Categories.
- Under the Media Categories section, enable the category you just created.
- Click the Save button.
- Repeat steps 2-5 for any additional User Groups that should have access to the new media category.
How to Edit and Delete a Media Category
- Within Admin Center, go to Content > Media Categories.
- If you are deleting a media category, select the X button from the Media Categories grid.
- Click Delete in the ‘Confirm Removal’ pop-up modal.
- If you are editing a media category, select the Media Category you wish to edit.
- Make any changes needed and then click Save after the changes have been made.
